Job description

Looking for a Network Engineering role within an SME where you will be an all-round generalist rather than being pigeonholed within a corporate company? We’re helping our Swansea-based client scale up the team with a mid-level Network Engineer where you’ll work on a variety of tooling with an L&D department that encourages cross-skilling of members of the team / mentoring opportunities.

About the role:

  • This role is hybrid with 3 days in the office and 2 from home; they have worked hard to build a supportive and dynamic culture so we’re looking for a good personality fit to contribute to and maintain this environment.

  • Day to day, the Network Engineer will provide Level 2 network support including configuration, troubleshooting and incident/problem/change management.

The experience required:

  • Network Certification or equivalent experience to Network+, Security+, CCNA Routing and Switching or CCNA Security level.
  • Experience troubleshooting basic LAN and WAN networks e.g. VLANs, DNS, DHCP, Interface configuration, routing.
  • Experience with configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches (CatOS, NX-OS, IOS) and ASA or Fortigate firewalls.
  • Experience working with incident and change managed environments.
  • Understanding of network management protocols e.g. SSH, HTTPS, TACACS+
  • Understanding of network load balancing (F5, HSRP, Etherchannel)
  • Understanding of Site-to-site VPN and remote access technologies.
  • Understanding of routing protocols – RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP.
  • Understanding of authentication, authorisation and accounting (AAA) technologies e.g. Dot1x.
  • Understanding of network monitoring systems that use SNMP and SSH to monitor network equipment.
  • Exposure and appreciation of infrastructure technologies is desirable but not essential. e.g. Servers, Storage, and Active Directory.

About the benefits:
