Database Administrator (DBA) – Newport- Up to £40,000 with excellent benefits
We’re looking for a number of Database Administrators (DBAs) to scale the Database and Middleware Support team for a leading public sector organisation.

What you’ll be doing….
The infrastructure department builds products and services which are easy to operate, scale and secure, working in work in areas like end user computing, mobile device management, server operating systems, storage area networks, virtualisation technologies, hosting and cloud services, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and networking technologies.

We are looking for DBAs at mid and senior levels to be responsible for designing, creating, supporting and improving new and existing database related infrastructure services, products and platforms. The team are accountable for the design, implementation and operation of products such as Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server, Actian Ingres Database, Oracle Weblogic and supporting technologies.

As you can probably tell it’s a really varied team and overall, you’ll be working with the day to day administration of database technologies such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, other than that you’ll be –
* Building, operating, supporting, monitoring performance, improving and decommissioning infrastructure services products and platforms to serve a variety of user needs.
* Patching existing database and middleware technologies.
* Carrying out upgrades to existing database and middleware technologies.
* Managing and maintaining system access and security.
* Monitoring existing technologies and identifying issues before they occur.
* Driving continuous improvement activities.
* Maintain consistency between development and production environments.

About you…
The team culture is based around agile working and providing excellent service to both internal and external customers so we’re looking for people who can really mirror those values.

We’re not looking for 100% of the boxes ticked, specifically, we’re looking to strengthen the above team with DBAs who will have solid evidence of Oracle RDBMS, MS SQL, Cloudera or Actian Ingres.
It would be great if you have any additional experience in the other disciplines or in other non-relational database technologies such as NoSQL, MongoDB, Couchbase and Reddit.
