IT Infrastructure Manager

We’re looking for a knowledgeable infrastructure manager to lead a skilled team of engineers with responsibilities ranging from managing stake-holders and workloads across the team, performance management and mentoring. It’s a really interesting role as we’re looking for someone who can provide a blend of hands on and strategy with a view of managing and developing the IT infrastructure as the responsible lead utilising an in-house team alongside any external support provider agreements.

In a nutshell we’re looking for someone to drive strategy for Infrastructure, taking lead in projects working with the solutions architects to help develop low level designs for technical and change projects. Ideally we’re after excellent technical architecture and support skills through to experience in the implementation, management, configuration and maintenance server technologies (even more ideally with experience in day-to-day management and infrastructure support of over 250 servers (physical and virtual) across a multi-site business) and a deep understanding of infrastructure technologies, including core networking concepts.

As you can imagine responsibilities will be pretty varied, from the development of the cloud strategy for the company through to the responsibilities for Data Centres, Disaster Recovery Suites and Local server rooms across a range of geographical locations! To give you a good idea through other responsibilities can include -
* Participate in Problem / Change Management and Major Incident Management activities.
* Ownership of Technology Services Disaster Recovery planning, plans and testing.
* Collaborate with internal support and business teams to ensure all work undertaken within the department is correctly recorded (SCSM) and processed through the lifecycle in accordance with the agreed customer service levels and departmental policies in line with ITIL and ISO27001.
* Produce various MI including system capacity / resource dashboards, system and departmental performance reports to an agreed schedule or upon request
* Undertake and ensure team projects, BAU Support and on-call functions are effective in covering operational needs and are delivered in a timely manner to cover all requirements.
* Monitor all aspects of the IT Infrastructure and network estate while ensuring capacity planning is in place to prevent failures while forecasting future resource requirements.

Skill set wise it’s just as varied, though we’re not looking to tick every box here it would be great if you had a knowledge of including -
* Strong knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems, Including IIS, DNS, DHCP, etc
* Strong knowledge of Active Directory (ideally including Trust and Migration experience)
* VMWare ESX 4/5.5 farm architecture and management. (Exposure to MS HyperV a bonus!)
* F5 Load Balancers, Cisco Nexus Switches, Cisco ASA Firewall and Clearswift Web proxies.
* HP 3 PAR SAN and fabric configuration.
* McAfee Security Suite including EPO Orchestrator management.
* Understanding of HP Data Protector, and ideally Net backup and Actifio.
* Citrix XenApp 7.6 farm with XenDesktop and external Netscaler services.
* IGEL UMS thin client software and hardware (on Citrix) Microsoft System Centre 2012 suite, including SCOM, SCCM, Service Manager, and Orchestrator.
* Strong knowledge and experience of Operating system and Anti-Virus patch management.
* Any experience of leveraging/integrating cloud services (AWS/Azure).
* Significant expose to working closely with internal and external development teams (DevOps exposure a plus).
