System Support/Application Support Technician

A multi-billion pound company in Basingstoke are looking for a highly experienced System Support/Application Support Technician to join their growing team. This is a brand new role for the organisation and the role offers excellent progression and development opportunities in the business with clear development plans - to System Engineer level for instance. As the System Support Technician you will provide support to the rest of the teams and work closely with the Customer Operations Manager, Lead System Engineer and Chief Engineer.


• Process equipment Returns, ensuring manufacturing problems are identified and notified to the Customer Operations Manager
• Document technical work instructions related to meter and radio equipment installations
• Deliver operational reports using excel
• Help to maintain a technical knowledge base containing known issues and workaround instructions
• Carry out radio surveys at customer sites around the UK for our AMR gateway solutions (full training to be given)
• Deliver internal and customer based training, when required, on installations
• Assist in maintaining training and support documentation
• Provide remote support for trial and Proof of Concept installations when required
• Follow Network Operations processes and procedures as defined to successful conclusion
• Drive and help to establish best practices and testing processes
• Provide recommendations for the improvement of company systems, specifications, installation and operational procedures & identify and report any non-conformities


• Previous experience in a technical customer support role
• Exposure to Service Management tools, such as Remedy, OTRS etc.
• Candidates with a mechanical or electrical engineering background will be considered favourably, however more important is the ability to be trained in the product..


• Certification in electrical installation
• Experience with using radio equipment
• Experience with supporting mobile devices (i.e. Android)
• ITIL certification
• Knowledge of Linux administration and scripting
