Senior Procurement Manager - Indirects - £60K+

One of the best known brands in the country is looking for a highly experienced Senior Procurement Manager, focusing on the Indirects category, to join their well-established Procurement team. You will be responsible for all indirect categories as well as a share of capital equipment purchases. You will have a spend responsibility of approximately £30 million pa with the key categories including energy, logistics, engineering services, other utilities, industrial gases, IT & telecoms, professional and HR services.


• To create and implement a procurement strategy for all key indirect categories
• Support the Engineering function with relevant procurement activity on service agreements, revenue purchases, plus minor and major capital expenditure
• For the wide range of internal customers provide relevant commercial and contractual support and guidance. Manage the procurement process, co-ordinating internal user activity and, with legal support, develop appropriate contractual documentation.
• Work collaboratively within cross-functional teams ensuring procurement input supports the overall needs of the Business. Communicate effectively and appropriately to ensure that all relevant personnel are kept informed and up-to-date at all times.
• With appropriate key suppliers, develop and manage in-depth relationships to identify and maximise opportunities for cost reduction, value engineering, process, quality and service improvements.
• Optimise the commercial benefits to the Business through:
o Active management of price forecasting, budgeting, variances and setting of standard costs, where appropriate.
o Identification, management and delivery of value engineering and other cost reduction initiatives.
• To provide expert advice in the key areas covered within the portfolio.
o Provide market intelligence and insight to all relevant areas of the Business in a regular and timely manner.
o Utilise this category expertise to fully support, inform and influence buying and contracting strategies.
• Ensure all commercial arrangements are supported by relevant contractual and commercial Agreements. Ensure this documentation is maintained, kept up to date and is available for inspection on request.
• Where appropriate, develop KPI’s to measure and monitor supplier performance.
• Work closely with Supply Chain Finance, Goods Receiving and Payment section to ensure all downstream procurement activities are undertaken effectively and efficiently
