Senior Object Orientated Developer / Lead Developer - Cardiff
Permanent role circa £40000 - £50,000 & good benefits package

We're looking for an experienced Developer to help develop in-house solutions which support and enhance information storage, retrieval and processing for a quickly growing company in Cardiff. You'll be shaping the software technology direction and assisting in applications integration whilst guiding other developers in establishing concepts and coding.

The main skills and elements of the role include:

Plan, design, develop and support software systems;
Configure, link and customise external software;
Create advanced data reports;
Maintain software project documentation and source repositories;
Lead on assigned projects;
Guide other developers in good practices, monitoring and validating work when required to ensure the correct approach is taken and deadlines are met;
Assist IT Software Manager in setting the department SOP’s;
Act as primary contact for software issues in the absence of IT Software Development Manager.
Work with outside developers/consultants as and when required.

The ideal skills and experience background would include:

Educated to degree level in a relevant scientific discipline;
Manufacturing experience would be a plus
Advanced proficiency with object oriented programming;
Experience in designing integrated solutions in a distributed environment;
Microsoft database maintenance and design;
End user ODBC methodology;

Secondary good to have skills include:

Current Microsoft Operating Systems and TCP/IP Networking;
Current Microsoft Office / Productivity Systems ( including VB scripting / extensions );
Web document architecture (creation / integration, modification);
Microsoft IIS or Apache web servers.
Strong IT troubleshooting skills;
Report writing skills.
