Microsoft unveils Release Candidate version of IE9 - 09/03/2011
Microsoft is offering users the chance to download a full-feature Release Candidate (RC) of Internet Explorer 9.
Internet Explorer 9, described by Microsoft as ‘the beauty of the web’, will feature a host of improvements aimed at improving speed and interactivity for its users. The company claims that the latest version benefits from more than 2,000 changes since IE9 Beta.
By tweaking how IE9 processes web technologies like JavaScript, Microsoft has been able to improve the overall speed of its browser. It says that IE9 RC is now the fastest JavaScript engine on the WebKit SunSpider Benchmark.
One new feature that has made its way on to the latest version is Tracking Protection Technology, which looks to prevent third-party tracking firms from recording the search activity of users. Privacy restrictions will be controlled with Tracking Protection Lists, which can be created by anyone and installed by the user.
Another inclusion is the ability for users to place tabs on a separate row from the address bar, meaning that the top area of the browser will appear far less congested.
Users of Windows Vista or Windows 7 can download IE9 RC by visiting Microsoft’s dedicated website:
