Java Software Engineer – Middlesex – £30-45K + Benefits (Permanent)
I am looking for a highly motivated Java Software Engineers to work for a growing digital technology and services supplier.
The client provides a business management platform which controls the flow of content to different technological devices to ensure high quality and reliable systems.
As a java software engineer, you will not only participate in customer-driven projects, but will be expected to drive the strategic direction of future product developments. Currently, the client is working with agile methodologies in parallel with delivery according to more traditional approaches and processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Analysis of new requirements from clients and internal users
• Design, code and test of new functional modules as well as maintaining existing code
• Prioritise a busy work schedule to meet tight deadlines
• Maintain a commitment to a quality approach to software development
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and give significant input during technical discussions
Mandatory Skills and Experience
Competent Java software engineers with proven experience of OO design and development
• Educated to degree level in Computer Science or a related discipline
• Unix / Linux development environment.
Desirable Skills and Experience
• Highly desirable - Multi-threaded applications, XML and related technologies (XSL, XPath), TCP; UDP
• JMS (e.g. ActiveMQ), Spring, Jetty, JPA (e.g. Hibernate)
• Maven; Continuous Integration; Unit Testing
• Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
• Requirements Writing
• Rich Internet Application (RIA) Technologies, in particular Adobe Flex
• Service Orientated Architecture (SOA)
